Covid Collaboration: Training Leaders With Our Partners

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, reSource Leadership International, along with our Overseas Council affiliates in Australia, the USA, New Zealand and Europe, as well as with ScholarLeaders, collaborated to mobilize over $1 million (USD) to help 90 Majority World Bible colleges as well as 30 scholar leaders in training.

Pictured above (left to right) are: Stuart Brooking (Executive Director, Overseas Council Australia), Peter DenHaan (reSource), Pastor Mac (President, Hanoi Bible College) and Evan Hunter (Vice President, ScholarLeaders).

It all began when the pandemic forced our partner schools to close. Those who were able moved their courses online, while they all struggled to cover financial shortfalls as tuition, donations and revenue from business ventures ceased. Through it all, they remained focused on their unique missions: to form leaders for the Church and to guide the Church and society.

To provide help, the six ministries collaborated to identify schools to support, contacted donors and coordinated efforts to distribute funds. Donors responded with tremendous generosity! Therefore, on behalf of many staff, scholars, students and their families, and from the board and staff of reSource: THANK YOU!

With these funds, schools provided for improved internet infrastructure, developed virtual courses, paid faculty salaries, and reimagined long-term plans to address issues such as donor engagement and switching from residential to non-residential models.

Evan Hunter, VP of ScholarLeaders writes:

“I am so pleased to see how God has worked in the midst of this crisis. We know that the schools have benefited from the funds we have raised, the resources we have produced, and the countless hours of communication and encouragement offered through our six organizations. We also know that as the dust settles after this storm, the challenging task of rebuilding is only just beginning for so many of these schools as they push forward in the significantly changed landscape of post-COVID theological education.”

The work is not complete – some of the hardest work remains. These and other schools will require ongoing support as they make the emotional, financial and technical adjustment to online learning. If God is prompting you to share in the joy of standing Shoulder to Shoulder with our partner schools, please contact us. To send support you can write a cheque to reSource, send an e-transfer or donate online.
